You Are Loved <3
by Brianna JacksonHi Roadies! I'm so excited to share this project with you. This week I'm using Wavy Background and Fancy Font Sentiments to make a stunning card. At a glance it looks rather plain, but when you tilt the card just so the magic happens!
I love background stamps. Watercolor is one of my favorite mediums, and background stamps work so well with loose watercolor. This stamp has a lot of wavy lines that would be perfect to design as waves, topographic maps, or gem stones, but I went with rainbow colors. I have colorshift watercolors that look like they are one color until you tilt the paper, then they shimmer into another! As soon as I saw this background, I knew I wanted to use them with it.
I stamped the background with clear embossing ink on black watercolor paper. I heat set with silver embossing powder, then painted in stripes of color that overlapped so they could blend. I let the background dry, then carefully wiped over the lines with a damp cloth to try and remove any watercolor that dried over the embossing. I wasn't completely successful but that's okay--it's so pretty that it's easy to overlook any excess watercolor.
I mounted my background on a black card base with foam tape. Then I stamped my sentiment on vellum with Staz-on and mounted that on a scrap of holographic foil cardstock. I used adhesive on the back of the scrap and wrapped the vellum around the sides so I didn't have to worry about adhesive showing through the vellum. I used foam tape to pop the sentiment up on the background, and voila! The end result is a colorful, shimmery card that I would be proud to gift to any of my loved ones.
This is a versatile background that can be used with any sentiment. I consider it a must-have for my collection. Head over to Ink Road Stamps and grab yours today! Use the code BriannaJ10 during checkout to save 10% on this set (or any other). I can't wait to see what you create!
