What Doesn't Kill You with Brianna French

Hi! Happy Tuesday! Hope your week is going well so far! This card is pretty cut and dry. This was one of those projects where I knew I only had 30 minutes and I wanted to challenge myself and see if I could create something a little less fancy then I usually create AND still like it in under 30 minutes.
Luckily, I succeeded! I tend to create many backgrounds all at once and then put them in a folder until I am ready to use them. The background for this card was one of those. I used distress ink and smooshed it onto my silicone mat that I use while I am working with inky mediums. Then, I added a spritz of water to the ink on the mat and laid my card front (watercolor paper) face down into the wet ink. I picked it up and rotated it and then laid it down again. Then, I sped up the drying time with my heat tool, smooshed some more ink onto my mat, spritzed with water again and then again laid my card face down into the ink. I did this process several times, allowing each layer to dry completely with the help of my heat tool, until I got the look I was going for.
When I was looking through my folder of backgrounds, this stood out as a perfect background for the little pizza stamp that is included in the stamp set 'What Doesn't Kill You'. I thought it resembled pizza toppings in an abstract sort of way. I decided to color my 'Pizza Shit' image using alcohol markers, which is unlike me, because I prefer watercolor. However, in an effort to keep this card to under 30 minutes, I chose to go out of my comfort zone a little bit.
I trimmed the background to allow for it to have a 1/4" border, which also gave me two pieces of the background color to adhere my sentiment strips on and have them coordinate perfectly with the card. I chose a black card stock border as well as black with white embossing for the sentiment to make the background colors pop even more. I also decided to give the card a little dimension by using double stick foam adhesive for the sentiment strips and the 'Pizza shit' image.
I probably could have called it quits here and the card would have been acceptable, but there is just something about sequins that just calls to me! I tried to apply it in a manner that would still make this card look simple. I think in the end it turned out exactly as I had hoped! And, in under 30 minutes! Win, win!
