Watercolor Purrmaid

Watercolor Purrmaid

Hello Roadies! I'm back on the blog today sharing an ombre underwater scene. I used a new set called Purrmaid that has some super adorable cat mermaid images! LOVE! These kitty mermaids are so freakin cute!! Let's get started!

My crafty friend Rhonda @pencils_and_inksperiments was kind enough to gift me a watercolor awhile back. I was finally brave enough to use it for this project and I'm so glad I did. This particular watercolor liquid has tons of purple shimmer in it.(So cool!) I painted a panel cut to 4" x 5.25" creating an ombre effect. I used 110lb cardstock but should've used watercolor paper, lol.

Next I stamped one of the adorable Purrmaids onto some white cardstock using alcohol marker friendly ink. I colored the image in using alcohol markers and a little bit of the water color so that the shell matched my background.

Once I was done with the coloring I added some details with a colored pencil and a gold gel pen. I initially fussy cut it out leaving a thin white border but in the end I cut down to the stamped line. I then went over the cut edge with a black marker for a more finished look.

I glued my purple watercolor panel onto gold card stock then onto teal cardstock cut to 4.25" x 5.5". Next I stamped some sea weed and bubbles from the Shell Yeah set using clear versamark ink for a tone on tone look. I also added a bit of watercolor splatter for texture.

I heat embossed one of the sentiments with gold embossing powder onto teal cardstock. I trimmed it down to a banner and adhered it flat onto my card towards the top left. I popped up the napping Purrmaid using some foam tape so she stands out. I finished it off with a few gold sequins. I love the bright and bold color combo and hope you do too!
