Three glorious cards.

Three glorious cards.

Hello Roadies! This week I am sharing three cards with bright backgrounds and hilarious quotes from the Snarks & Rec Vol 2 stamp set.

If you're like me, you have a drawer of colorful washi tape that you've collected with every intention to use creatively, but end up only using as a temporary tape or mask. These backgrounds are a quick way to show off that washi and any sentiment or embellishment.

To start, I cut several A2 panels out of heavyweight (110 lb) cardstock. Each panel measured 4.25 in. x 5.5 in. I chose washi colors that would create color gradients, trying a different gradient on each panel to use more of my washi stash.

I started in one corner and carefully placed stripes of washi diagonally across the panel, shifting from one color to the next. I left enough washi on each side to pull taunt and wrap around to adhere to the other side. I finished the backgrounds by cutting them out with a scalloped, stitched die cut. Since I used a die cut, next time I try this technique I'll trim the washi flush with the edge of the panel as I go.

I heat embossed some of my favorite sentiments with bronze and gold metallic embossing powders that coordinated with metallic highlights on some of the washi. I can coordinate so many different colors of ink and embossing powder with these backgrounds.

I used patterned paper to frame some of my sentiments (utilize scraps if available) and vellum for others. I really like how you can see the background through the vellum.

I added a few Nuvo drops to two of these cards but they're clear and easy to overlook until the light catches them. Next time I will use opaque embellishments, if I add any.

I have a new appreciation for my washi and I can't wait to find more ways to use it. But the real stars on these three cards? The sentiments. I hear Ron and Leslie saying them as I read them, and can't wait to send them to friends who will love them as much as I do.

Don't forget that you can save 10% during checkout with the code BriannaJ10 on this set or any others!
