Somebody Royally Forked Up by Brianna F
by Brianna FrenchThis may be my favorite card I have made of all time! It is just so adorable with such a quirky sentiment.
To make this card I started with playing with distress ink. I used watercolor paper and chose different blue and green distress inks and a light yellow ink. I smooshed the ink onto my large acrylic block and spritzed with water and then moved my water color paper every which way drying completely with my heat gun before starting a new color. This allowed me to get the texture I wanted. Then I chose a stamp that is small circles in a cluster from the 'Basic Collage Elements Vol 1' stamp set. I used the darkest blue ink that I had used in my ink smooshing and randomly stamped the circles all around my background. Then, I let this fully dry. I prepped the entire surface of the card with my anti-static bag and using the 'Wavy' background stamp I stamped the wavy lines with Versamark ink onto the background and then covered it with fine white embossing powder and then set it with my heat gun. At this point, I used a die that I have with various size circles all together to get multiple circle sizes of the background.
Whenever I get a new stamp set, I will cover an entire sheet of heavy card stock or watercolor paper with all of the images. And then, whenever I had downtime and was able to color I will pull a sheet out and color the images and then fussy cut them if I do not have the coordinating die set. Most of the time my media of choice is watercolor. So, these cute little Purrmaids were ones that were in my stash already colored and ready to be used.
I used white card stock as my background and used a bubble embossing folder to emboss subtle bubble circles onto my background. I matted it with mirrored light blue card stock and using liquid adhesive attached to my card base. I sifted through all of the little random sized circles I had made earlier and using liquid adhesive glued some in a random pattern on the left side of the card. Then, I chose a few other different size circles and popped them up with foam double stick adhesive. One of the smaller circles I doubled up the foam adhesive and popped it up higher then all of the other circles. I used a nice sea foam green card stock and stamped the sentiment "Somebody Royally Forked Up" from the stamp set 'Lint Licker' and used an oval die to cut out the sentiment and gave it some dimension with some double sided foam adhesive. I put my cute little Purrmaid directly onto the white card stock base with liquid adhesive.
I rarely put anything on the inside of the cards I make, however, this one demanded something on the inside. So, using the perfect sentiment from the stamp set 'Belated' I prepped the inside of the card with anti-static powder, stamped in black ink and then covered the sentiment in clear embossing powder and heat set it using my heat gun.
On the bottom right, I positioned another Purrmaid image and then removed it and stamped some green leafy seaweed to peak out behind her. I put her back where I envisioned her and then stuck her down using liquid adhesive. Using the same tiny circle cluster I did on the front of the card I stamped what looks like bubbles coming from the cutest little Purrmaid.
My final step was to use clear Nuvo drops around the sentiment on the front. I thought this added a nice finishing touch.
I hate to miss anyone's birthday, but I almost want to just to give them this card!
