Black Lives Matter. Period.

Hello Roadies!

I'm Brianna J. and I'm proud to be showcasing the Black Lives Matter stamp set on the Ink Road Stamps blog this week. If you want this set (or any others), feel free to use the code BriannaJ10 during checkout and snag 10% off.

I wanted the message to be the focal point of this card, so I kept it simple. I stamped the fist symbol with black pigment ink and heat set with embossing powder. I always use an anti-static powder tool before I stamp to help prevent stray specks of embossing powder from catching on the textured watercolor paper.

Black Lives Matter

I used various shades of Mijello Mission Gold watercolors to paint the fists. I recommend saving watercolor paper scraps and using them to swatch or test mixes before applying them to a project.

I painted each fist with a different skin tone and let them touch while wet. I like the idea that they are standing as one, but separate.

To finish it off, I stamped Black Lives Matter on black cardstock with white pigment ink. I heat set the sentiment with white embossing powder and trimmed it before popping it up with foam tape beneath the fists.

While I can't begin to understand the struggles my fellow Black Americans face every day of their lives, as an ally I promise to listen and stand alongside. I will try my best to research and learn on my own, sharing that knowledge with others when it is appropriate, when I am not centering myself or putting my feelings and experiences over yours. If I get it wrong and I'm called out, I promise to stop and listen, and try to understand.

Black Lives Matter. Period.
