Not Quite Single...
by Brianna JacksonHello again Roadies! This week's project holds a special place in my heart as a long-term single lady who loves the single life. Single & Savage is the perfect set to embrance singlehood (or help newly single friends embrace theirs!).
Usually when I make a card I have a friend or family member in mind, but this card was made for me. The set has hilarious and bold sentiments, but it also has a customizable sentiment that you can pair with a few different options--or you can dig into your stash and find the perfect stamp for you. I'm definitely in a long term relationship with craft supplies, but marijuana is right there, too. If I was making this for a friend, I'd probably use wine or beer, depending on the friend.
I had to break out 420, 420 Patterned Stencil, and the 420 Dies for this card. I used watercolor paper and the stencil with ink sprays to make a bright background, then die cut a few leaves with glittery cardstock in various shades of green. I also die cut a glittery panel to mat the background. I started assembling at this point. I mounted the glitter panel on a white card base, then added my background.
Before I adhered the leaves, I stamped my sentiment on white cardstock. I started with "I'm not single, I'm in a long term relationship with" and stamped it in black dye ink. Then I carefully masked around the word "marijuana" from the sentiment strip that says "rise and shine it's marijuana time" from 420. I used a scrap of acetate and tested my positioning with green dye ink before I stamped the word marijuana. I used washi to cover up the rest of the sentiment, inked the word "marijuana," then removed the washi before stamping.
I think the sentiment came out perfect. I trimmed excess cardstock, then ran the edges over the green dye ink pad to help frame the sentiment. I played with the leaf positioning until I was happy, then carefully glued each leaf down before mounting the sentiment over top with foam tape.
This is easily one of my favorite cards this year. Even if 420 isn't for you, this shows how you can easily customize the Single & Savage set for yourself or anyone in your life who needs a reminder that being single can be awesome, too!
