I Hate Birthdays
There. I said it. Or maybe I should clarify that I hate MY Birthday? I am still figuring it out. Because I don't super like any birthdays but I especially don't love my own. Does that make sense? Ok, we have established I am officially a scrooge. But I am ok with it so there's that...
Happy F$%^*&g Birthday!
On that note, Happy Birthday! If I got this card on my birthday maybe I would like it more! haha! It is perfect. I know I made it, and saying it is perfect is a little arrogant, but I don't care. It is perfect and I want the world to know!
As I sat and considered how to go about making this project from the Happy Fucking Birthday stamp set I imagined a layered extravagant amazing card and box set but then quickly realized that I wanted the sentiment to SHINE rather than the card itself so I went simple.
I used a "no-ink" stamp pad and stamped her directly onto a card front. The stamped image is VERY light so I had to get a big giant cup of coffee and my glasses and focus on getting it just right! I started with the "happy" by using my Prismacolor colored pencils to make a little gradient effect image. Then decided on my sexy NEON GREEN Gelly Roll pen with some white highlights for the rest. Addorned with matte "dots" and some added hand drawn in little stars and bubbles. She is perfect.
I just HAD to establish more hilarity INSIDE the card to match the snark on the outside so I added the above sentiment crafted from the Zero Fucks stamp set.
I plan on giving it to a friend that gave me a HUGE hard time about forgetting their birthday which will be a perfect end to a perfect card!
Added Delight
I found these blank white gift boxes as Michaels the other day so decided to paint one up to match the card. I simply gave it a rough coat of some acrylic paint and sprinkled some embossing powder on the wet paint and adorned her with a wooden tag. I used the stamp set to give it ONE more fuck off birthday sentiment and called it a day!
What did I learn?
I learned that my Gelly Roll pens make everything better (Who am I kidding?! I knew that already...)
I learned that adding obscenities to any phrase makes it a little funnier and impactful.
I learned that embossing on wood is super satisfying and that I should try to emboss on ALL THE THINGS as a crafty experiment.
Alrighty...
Signing off - I hope you love her and don't hate birthdays as much as me! Send me a message or comment or a homing pigeon to tell me what you thought!
HUGS!
