Even Unicorns Have Bad Days
by Stephanie LowUnicorns are not always rainbows and sunshine...
Except they both were in my card designs so in reality that was just a catchy heading meant to sound witty and thoughtful. So..
I'm back with a few not-matchy-matchy card designs today. I emphasize that they aren't matching because it is bothering me quite a bit and if you're like me then it's bothering you too. BUT! They are both super cute because this unicorn is to die for!
She is a talented ballerina with a whole level of attitude that we can all agree is sometimes necessary. Well executed little unicorn! Go check out the Fuckunicorn stamp set for all the cute details
Alright I will hurry and get to it. I hate when bloggers go on and on and on...
Unicorn Fuckery
I suppose I think I know what this sentiment means but I suppose it could mean something different for many people. Fuckery Is Afoot... Shenanigans Commence... Bafoonery Shall Begin... Idiocy Starts Here... Am I getting this right?
My first design was aided by some cute little coloring book pages that I ripped out and have been using as crafting paper for a few years. (Hint: Find coloring books on sale or clearance or at thrift stores and use that as paper!!!) I am sort of a master recycler mostly because I am a rare breed that doesn't LOVE buying craft supplies because I like to save money way more.
Focus.
I grabbed a card some coloring book pages and started piecing it together. She got a cute little coloring job and I fussy cut her out and stamped a sentiment on her! Easy peesy. I used my prisma colored pencils to color her and highlighted with some gelly roll pens. (I am also just barely realizing that I forgot to color her HORN! OMG, what a blasphemous error!)
Moving on...
Two Words One Finger...Pinkies Up!
Just kidding, its obviously referencing the middle finger which would mean they are referencing Fuck You, of course... Trying to keep you on your toes.
This card though! She is so fun. I absolutely love her. She is bright and warm and psychedelic and perfect. honest. actually perfect.
Focus...
I started by beginning her paint job. I used water colors and then topped it all off with some prisma colored pencil detailing and gelly roll pen highlights. My all time personal trifecta of coloring like a boss!
I knew I wanted to use the new wavy background stamp (I cant find it in the shop!!! I'll update this later) but wasn't sure how to make it my own right away. So as I sat there looking at a stamped background with no color I decided to keep it traditional and go with a rainbow design since..Unicorns... Stereotypes are unethical - I know... So I colored that background stamp in a cute little blendy blendy rainbow thingy and slapped my unicorn on there and called it good.
What did we learn today?
<> I (didnt learn because I already knew) love using recycled items so much. Last month I used an old Sephora shopping bag and this month some coloring book pages. WIN! Saving money on craft supplies!
<> Coloring is the absolute best. ever. ever
<> Painting my crafty projects brings me closer to my original love which is fine art and inspires my creative process.
Ok...
As usual my time here on the blog must end and I must go on to craft another day. Ill be back and when I return we shall pick up where we left off. With ridiculous rambling and bafoonery!
Until then, create everyday friends!
xoxo,
Stephanie Low
