Endless possibilities!
by Brianna JacksonHello Roadies! I really love this week's card. It was made with Collage Elements Vol 1. This is the kind of set that makes me excited to see Vol 2, because the possibilities are endless!
I used the squares to create a messy, geometric background to watercolor. I made sure to go over the paper several times with an anti-static tool before I started because I used rough textured watercolor paper (it has a lot of grooves where embossing powder can get stuck). I stamped the squares repeatedly with clear embossing ink, taking care to cascade them down the paper and ensure the squares overlapped and created smaller shapes where colors could pool. I coated the ink with white embossing powder, used a dry paintbrush to brush away any that stuck where it wasn't wanted, and heat set.
Once heat set, I had fun with watercolor! I covered the background in water and dropped different colors here and there, letting them bleed together and overlap. I tried to keep complementary colors from touching because they tend to create mud, and used a paper towel to dab away any areas where the colors didn't mix well. When I was happy with the background I let it dry, then added splatter in a few different colors.
I used a sentiment from Amazing Human and stamped it on a strip of vellum. I put adhesive on the back of the card, positioned the vellum strip where I wanted it, and folded the edges over the side, making sure to firmly press against the adhesive. Last step was to adhere the colorful card front to a dark base.
This was so fun to make, and I love the bright colors. This set features tons of shapes that would be great for backgrounds, accents, or borders for focal points. Mix and match with any sentiment! I consider it a stash must-have. You can snag it for 10% off using the discount code BriannaJ10 during checkout!
