Break Up with Brianna French

Break Up with Brianna French

Break-ups are never enjoyable.  Unless, of course, they are.  Sometimes, breaking up with someone is one of the best and most freeing things someone can do.  When this happens it can create one of those moments where you get to see how truly bad ass you really are!

In honor of all those bad-ass individuals I created this card.  As soon as I saw the sentiment "Love Stinks" in the stamp set 'Break Up' I could not get the 1980's song out of my head for days.  While relishing my ear-worm, I decided my color scheme.  Black, white, taupe and hot pink!  For some reason this screamed empowered break up!

I used the drippy broken heart stamp and using an acrylic block, I repeatedly stamped the image side by side with watermark ink.  I knew I wanted a few sporadic hot pink hearts so I left a few blank spots where I wanted them to be.  I used my heat gun to dry the watermark ink really well, since this ink takes more time to dry then other inks.  Then, I prepped my card stock with my anti-static tool since I knew I wanted to emboss the hot pink hearts. I used hot pink pigment ink and filled the spaces I left blank with the drippy broken hearts.  Next, I used clear embossing powder and poured it over all of the pigment ink and used my heat tool to set the embossing powder; taking care to keep the heat tool moving from back to front so the paper wouldn't warp.

I decided to use a simple black and white pattern paper to surround my custom background panel.  I used black ink to stamp the sentiment "Love Stinks" onto hot pink card stock (but of course first prepping with my anti-static tool) and then immediately coated with clear embossing powder and finally, setting with my heat tool.  I carefully cut a rectangle around my sentiment and adhered this to black card stock with about a 1/4" border.  Then using foam tape, I added the sentiment in the center of the card.

For the final touch, I needed to add some bling!  I decided to use various sizes within the color scheme of sequin in a diagonal pattern.  However, feel free to follow your heart with your own sequin placement.

Finally, I decided to put an empowering sentiment on the inside of the card.  I used the sentiment "Whenever I'm sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead" from the 'Suit Up' (retired) stamp set.  I continued the color scheme by using black ink on hot pink card stock.
