Birthday Strips by Becca

My birthday card stash is constantly low, so I made two cards at once to get ready for all the upcoming summer birthdays!
I started with white heat embossing onto white cardstock. On the left I used Banana Leaf Background, and on the right I used the flowers from Bella Flora to make my own background. I sprinkled on watercolor powder and spritzed with water to let the colors flow.
I cut down the panels and added a thin black border, then a thick colorful one. The final card size is A2, 4.25" by 5.5".
For the sentiment I white heat embossed Happy Birthday from Basics: Sentiment Strips (separated) onto black cardstock. I used my paper trimmer to cut it into a strip. These stamps are fantastic even if you don't have the coordinating die!
I added foam tape to the back of the sentiment strips, then loosely placed silver thread on the adhesive for a fun embellishment.
This is what the thread looks like completed. I added it onto a vellum heart die cut.
The vellum heart helps the sentiment stand out, while still letting a bit of the background peek through. I love using this technique when I fall in love with a background and don't want to cover it up!
To complete the cards I added clear sequins going from the top left of the heart to the bottom right.
When I cut down the background panels I saved the scraps. I cut them into a banner and used it as a decoration for the inside of the cards.
I couldn't help but to throw in some close up photos too, I just love how they turned out!
