Home Stamp SetsBLOCK PARTY OUTLINE ALPHAS Inspired by Mary!

Welcome! It’s Samantha – back sharing a card (a few actually) that I created after seeing IRS design team member Mary share her scrapbook layout “YAY 36” – which you can view again here.  I’ve been blown away with many of the design teams ideas and layouts that I’ve stored these ideas to use later on my cards. I especially love seeing the scrapbook layouts. Though I use to LOVE scrap-booking, its not something I have time for at the moment – but the amount of time and effort and the subtle features, not to mention the layers this design team produces in their layouts is inspiring!

Here is my take on Mary’s layout using Ink Road Stamps: Just a number and  Block Party Alphas – outline.

Now – if you didn’t noticed…I’m using the colours from this months Ink Road Stamp Challenge.  I kinda thought it was a good starting point – to pick a few ink colours that work well together since I tend to use very little patterned paper (to draw colour from). It was probably the most difficult part – descaling a scrapbook layout which has so many elements.  I was really drawn to Mary’s great idea to turn the balloons (from IRS It’s just a Number) upside down and make them party lights/lanterns!!! Absolutely genius!!!

The stamping process however, was a little trickier then I thought it would be! I had to consider sentiment placement and I soon realised after stamping the first line that I would have to do some masking and think about depth perception!  Smaller balloons at the back – Bigger balloons in the front! It’s all about the details…

Once I had figured out the balloon placement, and finished stamping. I used my sewing machine to stitch the lines.  I then came up with a few sentiment ideas using IRS Block Party Alphas Outline – Hello, HB2U/YAY & Thank You. These were heat embossed on black card using gold embossing powder and cut out using my silhouette (Scan & Cut).  I finished the card off with gold sequins.

The final card (below) I played around with balloon placement and changed it to a landscape layout. The Thank you sentiment is specifically for Mary! I really enjoyed creating this card – thinking about the finer details, and challenging myself to figure out how someone else created it, change it and put my own little touches to it.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope I inspired you just like Mary inspired me.
