Hello everyone and welcome back to another Friday Feature here at the Ink Road Stamps blog. Today we are focusing on one of our cutest stamp sets, Swanderful.
Let’s take a look at the beautiful and creative ideas from our design team.
There are a lot of big changes happening in my life right now. The Swanderful set was perfect for some scrappy Traveler’s Notebook therapy. When I think of swans, I think of beauty and change. Right now I’m trying to find the beauty in change, so Swanderful! For this spread I used one of my favorite low stress stamping techniques…stamping on vellum! With this method you don’t have to be afraid of “messing up” and I just love how you still see what’s happening behind the stamp!
For this month’s Feature Friday I didn’t want to get too “theme-y”. When you see a swan stamp, I think your mind instantly goes to “I am sure I have some photos of my kids feeding ducks!” Which I am sure I do. Lol. Instead I printed off a photo of my son from last year, sitting on a bench at the park.
The picture was taken in the spring, but I am a pretty seasonal scrapper, so my mind says “Make a fall layout!” So I chose a color scheme that I felt could work for spring or fall. I layered up a ton of patterned paper behind my photo and did my typical folded down corner in the upper right.
Then it was time to embellish. I stamped and fussy cut about 12 swans…but realized almost immediately that would have been slightly overkill. So instead I built three embellishment clusters which each featured one of the swans. Instead of journaling on this journaling tag, I used the “Swanderful” phrase stamp and stamped three times in black ink. My favorite swan is the one peeking out behind the folded corner, what’s yours?
Hi friends! Mary here with a Swanderful layout to share with you 😉 (See how I just did that?!) I took inspiration from Maggie Holmes for this layout. Have you ever noticed how much she loves swans? I started out by using the swan stamp to build up my background paper. I also used the “Swanderful” stamp set and made a little embellishment stamped on polka dot vellum to the right of my photo to serve as my title. I absolutely love the way this layout turned out. It’s fun and bright and perfect to document these cute photos of my hubby and I. You can find the full process video here.
