Christmas Album Foundation Page with Mary

December 6, 2017

Hi friends!  This year I am documenting our family’s Christmas in a super simple, less time consuming way than I did last year.  Last year I attempted December Daily and got about 12 days into December and quit.  I go so burnt out on December Daily with all the events we already have going on during the Holidays that I almost didn’t want to document anything this year!  So I simplified it to fit me.  I am attempting to do 12 Stories of Christmas and I’m not even going to worry if I don’t get 12 stories in.  But to help speed the process up a little bit I decided to make some foundation pages that way when I have a story to tell I can just plop a photo down and do a bit of journaling and call it a day.

Here is my first foundation page for my Christmas Stories album:

I used both of the Holiday release stamp sets.  I just matched up the color scheme to the Crate Paper “Falala” collection so that it wouldn’t look out of place since that’s the collection I’ll mostly be working with this year.  I figured out the measurements I would need to make a custom pocket page with my Fuse tool….speaking of the Fuse tool I have to admit I have not used this tool since this time last year…please tell me I’m not alone.

Then I stamped out some snowflakes in a pattern.  I am so thankful the “Happy Hola Days” stamp set includes so many tiny snowflakes because it allowed me to place all of them down on a block and stamp one time to get the pattern I wanted.

I carried the same color scheme to the bottom pocket and stamped all the trees out to create this fun Christmassy forest.  This will probably be where I place my journaling.

Next I stamped the smokin’ hot santa and “son of a nutcracker” in black Stazon ink onto a sheet of Grafix printable transparency paper (acetate).  It is still tricky to get a clean image without the stamp sliding around on the acetate but I find it easier to use the printable transparency paper because it already comes with a slight grip on one side.  When it was all dry I flipped the sheet over and colored in the jolly old man using sharpies.

I used a silver sharpie on his beard because there’s just something smoking hot about this silver fox…just sayin’.

For the last little pocket I added in some fun sequins, tiny red beads and some snowflake buttons from my stash and Fused the pocket shut.

Hope you were inspired to create a fun page in your December album!
