Hello friends! It’s Kira and I’m back with a 12×12 scrapbook layout. I went winter-y for this fun, snowflake filled page!
Back in December we got our first snow of the year! It’s our first winter in San Antonio so we didn’t expect to see any! So it was quite a surprise to get some in the beginning of the month. By the next morning it was mostly melted, but I took as many pictures of it as possible to document this magical 12 hours of true winter in our new home.
I knew the snowflakes in the Happy Holla Days stamp set would be perfect for this set of pictures. The first thing I did was create a snowflake cut file from one of the snowflake stamps. I cut it in three different sizes on white vellum, blue vellum and blue cardstock. Then I layered up the snowflakes and stitched them together with embroidery thread, creating my own DIY embellishments.
I took a few of the snowflakes and stamped them along the bottom of my page with “Arctic” Altenew ink, creating a very subtle snow flurry effect. Then horizontally across my page I layered some lace and some crepe paper. From this border, I stitched lines that I would “hang” my snowflakes from.
I layered my photos with some cardstock, sticking with the blue color scheme I had throughout the page. I then stamped some more of the snowflakes behind and above my photos using the same “Arctic” ink and some “Desert Night” ink.
I had some extra blue cardstock snowflakes so I grouped those at the bottom of my page. I chose a white foam thicker that says “This” and made that my title. I finished off by watering down some silver ink and adding splatters all around my page.
Thanks for stopping by! Until next time,
