Hey friends! It’s Kira here and I’m back with another 12×12 scrapbook layout. I decided to play with one of my favorite methods of scrapping and create a cut file out of one of the stamps. I thought the stamp “Art is Life” from the #beautifulmess stamp set would make for an awesome cut file title.
So I stamped out my stamp of choice in black ink on some white cardstock, snapped a quick picture on my phone and imported it into Cricut design space. It is that easy! I decided I needed to go BIG on this one. I sized the height to 11″, which allowed the cut file to take up the majority of my page, while still leaving an edge for me to place a photo.
The photo I chose to scrapbook is one of my son drawing with me last February. He has always loved to be creative like his mom, but recently has shown less interest, which sort of breaks this mama’s heart. I wanted to create a layout that captured this special moment we had together and hopefully will have again.
After cutting out my title, I backed it with some planner stickers! I am not a planner girl, but had to snag the new American Crafts sticker books when they came out. So I made use of the “planner-y” ones (yeah, planner-y is totally a word) by backing my cut file with them. It created such a fun and eclectic design that I thought worked perfectly for this page. After backing the cut file, I stitched around it with some pink/coral embroidery thread, which really made the words pop!
The picture was printed in black and white because I had so many colors on the page already and there were just way too many new/different colors in the photo, it would’ve clashed too much in color. I thought being in black and white created an opportunity to stamp directly on my photo. I chose the phrase “Go Make a Mess” (since that’s what toddlers are best at) from the #beautiful mess stamp set and stamped it right below my son’s hand.
Embellishing the page went rather quickly, and I knew there were certain stamps I just had to include on this layout. Like the swan from the Swanderful stamp set, it is so Maggie Holmes-esque, that I knew it would be perfect. I fussy cut out a swan and added a little bow from my sticker book.
I added hints of other stamps throughout the page. In the lower right cluster, I stamped “#beautifulmess” from the #beautifulmess stamp set.
Also from that stamp set, I stamped “#paperlove” in the upper right cluster, along with my date. Below the tag in that cluster, I added the little “sprinkle-y” stamp from the Bun Intended stamp set. And then carried those sprinkles over to the upper left cluster. Along with the “sprinkles”, I add the push pin stamp from #beautifulmess to look as if it is holding up a few of my stickers.
I finished off this layout by adding some gold Heidi Swapp color shine and called it done! I hope you got a ton of inspiration from this layout! Thank you for stopping by!
Until next time,
